As a business leader, time often feels like a luxury, right?

All the meetings…

the projects…

the phone calls…

the business dinners…

the kids’ activities…

and family time.

And what about time for you? Does that even exist?

You go to bed late and wake up early in the hope of getting a jump start on the day, but it feels like you’re running in place; you’re just not getting ahead.

You’re exhausted, yet you have MORE to do, and the tasks and commitments just feel neverending.

I’m going to share with you a straightforward and effective approach to creating a routine you can stick with AND create more time in your day.

Who doesn’t want to have more time, right?

Start saying no.

Don’t say yes to anything you don’t have the time or resources to complete.

I know you want to please others, as we all do, but over committing sets you and the other party up for disappointment when you can’t follow through. The opposite of what you want, right?

Know how much time you have. And if you don’t know, check before you commit.

Define your non-negotiables.

These are things you have to do each day such as sleep, exercise, commute to work, or take the kids to school. These things all take time, and you need to account for that time. Use a calendar, planner or whatever best suits you to keep track.

Some questions to consider as you’re defining your non-negotiables:

  • Is this necessary?
  • Do I have to do this?
  • Can I outsource it?

Prioritize

Once you’ve defined your non-negotiables take the remaining time and fill in everything else that needs doing. You’ll need to move whatever doesn’t fit into another day.

Follow these simple tips, and you’ll have a routine that’s easy to stick with which will increase your productivity and help you have more time in the day.

You are the only one who can take action and make different decisions.
