Many people use fate and destiny interchangeably, but they aren’t the same.

Fate is what you’re born into. It’s accepting your life as it is without any effort on your part to consciously change anything. It’s allowing yourself to stay in your comfort zone and claim being a victim of circumstance.

Destiny is your soul’s call to greatness. It’s the potential for what you could be, but it’s up to you to answer that call. It involves stepping outside your comfort zone and taking a risk. It’s taking the life you’re given and creating the life you deserve. You have the power to shape it.

I remember this day as if it were yesterday.

Up to that point, I’d spent the first 16 years of my life being taught that life “is what it is.” I felt depressed and trapped in what had escalated to a volatile situation at home. I feared that if things didn’t change that something bad would happen. As a 16-year-old girl, feeling like I’d exhausted every option, I came to the conclusion that I had to take control of my life and stop allowing myself to be a victim of circumstance.

That meant leaving home to make my own way, and it meant a huge risk. I could stay in my environment and become a statistic or I could take control and shape my destiny. I’ve had many memorable turning points in my life, but the first and most significant was the day I left home and never went back. That was the day I decided to summon the courage to shape my own destiny.

I chose to create the life I wanted, and the life I knew I deserved. That was the first of what would be many times in my life where I was faced with the decision. Fate or destiny?

We always have the power to choose what kind of life we want to have.

I’ve shared a part of my own story with you to reinforce with you that anything is possible. If you’re feeling anything less than fulfilled, happy, and free in your life it means that your soul is calling to you to step into your greatness, to take a risk and show yourself what you’re made of. Most people think of fear when they think of risk, but great risk = great reward.

Are you settling for a fate lead life, or are you shaping your destiny?

God doesn’t put dreams in our heart that aren’t meant to be achieved. Whatever you imagine, it CAN be. You have to not only imagine but take action toward your dreams to make them come true.

  • You can leave the career you worked so hard to earn that no longer fulfills you.
  • You can leave toxic relationships.
  • You can align with your higher path and live the purpose God has put on your life.

You are enough. You are loved. Everything is possible.
